This magnetic reed switch is a great addition to your Internet-of-Things (IoT) project. It can be used to detect when windows, doors, garages doors, gates, etc are opened or closed. In this manner, this reed switch can be used as a sensor. Connect it to a microcontroller (with some resistance) and read when the voltage on a digital input pin either goes high or low. Several configurations are possible.

 
*** NOTE ***

This is a SWITCH. If the switch is closed, current flows. Please add some resistance in series if using with a microcontroller in order to keep the current draw low and not blow out the pin!
