This dual channel H-Bridge motor drive is a great help when wanting to control two DC motors (or 2-phase, 4-phase stepper motors). The module is fully assembled and can get your motors spinning within minutes. It can't get much easier than that! We recommend checking out this link for a quick getting started tutorial.

What is an H-Bridge?

An H-Bridge consists of four switches with the motor in the centre, forming the shape of the letter "H". The main purpose of an H-Bridge is to be able to drive the motor in two directions (bidirectional), namely forward and backward. By toggling these four switches in a particular configuration the motor can spin one way or another.

Particular to this L298N based module, there are two channels, each consisting of an H-Bridge. For channel A the input pins IN1 and IN2 control the direction of the motor attached to channel A (labeled OUT1 and OUT3). If toggling IN1 LOW and IN2 HIGH the motor spins one direction. Toggling IN1 HIGH and IN2 LOW spins it the other way around. Similiarly for channel B, which has the IN3 and IN4 pins to control the motor attached to channel B. See this tutorial for an example.

This tutorial shows how to get going with the L298N module quickly. It shows how to drive two motors, forward and backward, and how to connect PWM to adjust the motor speeds.
